As Valnar struggles with his creator and soon meets Alaine who once loved Asgar, and after she was executed Asgar also transformed her into a vampire. Operating from Asgar's castle, the unusual trio confronts the past of the vampires and a man who nearly whiped them all out in a crusade, Vincent Weynard. Was he the man history portrayed him to be and what truth lies in a book the group finds?
